Main shaft out, problem found!

Here's the main shaft pulled and coming apart:




See those rollers? They're supposed to fall free if you have an "early" model of my transmission. I don't. Mine are supposed to be captured.





I found what happened...Somehow the race got eaten by something. You can see the shredded metal here. Luckily for the guy that owned this thing before I did that the gear "held" the rollers in simply because there wasn't any room for them to move. Had they escaped into the transmission gear cavity, the whole thing would have been destroyed. Probably even the case, too.
