What have I gotten myself into?

So, not long after getting the bike, I started tearing the engine and tranny open. What I found wasn't promising. In the engine cases I found water fouled oil. The tranny was sealed, but one of the mounting studs leaks, so it'll need to be helicoiled and replaced.
