The biggest step in getting this bike running again has occurred: I just dropped off the crank ass'y and the original cylinders at UPS to be shipped to Truett and Osborn Cycle out in Kansas to have the cylinders rebored (if necessary), honed, and fitted for pistons. Those pistons will then be mounted on the crank ass'y and the whole thing will be balanced and trued.

I think my fiance' is getting tired of hearing about how excited I am about this...Yes, I'm like a giddy little school girl right now.
